Secondlife Fashion from ReadMeri | The Horizon

The Horizon

Yesterday, I had a picture removed from Facebook because you could see my avatar’s nipples in the photograph. I don’t especially have an issue with the removal of the photo – indeed, if the sight of my nipples caused anyone distress, I’d much rather it be removed. No, my problem is with the censorship of women’s’ nipples when there is no equivalent for men’s nipples. They are, to all intents and purposes, the same thing, the only difference being that women are able to feed babies from theirs and men cannot. That should either mean that both are too ‘rude’ to be seen in public, or that neither are.

The censorship of women’s nipples has a long tradition in our western society, I realise. But there are places in the world where that censorship does not exist, where – in fact – women are able to walk around topless in their own villages and streets without anyone batting an eyelid.

My point is this – nipples are not rude, nude is not rude. It’s the attitude to them that is rude and that should change.

What to wear in Secondlife today:

Top | Blueberry Romy Knotted Tops wi. optional bra [Bel1/Bel2/Mait/Sl/5ss] (Uber Event)
Belt | EarthStones Kiss My… Belly Chain in 3 body shapes (Earthstones @ Alice in Sexyland)
Shoes | Reign Summer Flip Flops [Bel/Sl/Mait] (Summerfest)
Jeans | *CoCo* Wide Leg Jeans Mid (Creation Japan fr. 27 June)

I loooove the new release from Blueberry for Uber, which opened yesterday – this is going to be one great event. The Romy Knotted top with optional bra is stunning and, as you can see from my picture, you can use the colour HUD to change the contrasting areas of pockets, plackets and sleeve roll-ups. Supercool!

  1. That amazes me. As a small consolation, it appears that FB at least thought your avatar was realistic-looking enough to fall under their “no female nipples” policy. But in all seriousness, it’s really sad.

What do you think?
