Second Life Fashion from ReadMeri | Come To Me

Come to me

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Since the turn of the last century (1903 in fact) The New Colossus by Emma Lazarus has been immortalised on a plaque at the Statue of Liberty. It’s something I like a lot about the U.S. – I mean obviously there are things not so noble in America’s history, but speaking from England, I can say we have many of those things and a fair few of the U.S.’s also on our balance sheet. I love the idea of taking the poor and lost, the needy and broken and giving them a chance of belonging and of life.

That’s it really… I was inspired by the story of a man in Germany who is Syrian and was taken in by them over a year ago – now he spends his free time and what money he has cooking hot meals for Germany’s homeless.

In a much smaller and less important way, it’s what we tried to do with AAi – our little indie club in Second Life. We never envisaged it being a magnet for cool folks, we wanted the huddled masses, the noobs, the misfits and we wanted it to be a safe place anybody could feel a sense of belonging. I hope we succeeded.

Aphorism Knitted mesh tights are available in versions for both Slink bodies, Maitreya Lara and a fitted mesh size for flat, high and mid feet in 9 colours for Autumn/Winter 2015. I actually chose to wear the Slink version with my Maitreya body because my legs were a little chunkier that way around – I do like a bit of chunky legs, haha. As with all experimental meshes (the Maitreya version I mean) do demo before purchasing.

Have a great day folks!
