Second Life Fashion from ReadMeri | On fiction,

I was asked to read a friend’s story and comment upon it recently, and today I did. It is something that I felt excited about – honoured to be asked really – and I also felt a certain amount of responsibility. You see, (and you probably already know), when you write something, it’s your creation, your baby and asking somebody else honestly how they feel about it is like asking ‘Is my baby ugly? Really?’. In other words, a part of their heart goes with the pages and I try to handle hearts carefully. However! There is a more important responsibility I think and that is to try to be honest and open. If you ask somebody who loves you what they think, they’ll just say it’s fantastic, because they want to please you. So you have to try to find somebody to comment who is sufficiently interested and yet might actually give you some useful feedback.

I’m so hoping I’ve done that. Luckily, it was a story I enjoyed and I feel the writer should do a lot more writing (which I hope to read).

On the converse side, I have a relative who is a very prolific writer but I’ve not so far liked anything they’ve written very much. I’m stuck in the awful position of having to appear supportive when I honestly think that creative writing is not their forte. Once a book is written, it becomes the property of the reader and if they feel it deeply, the book will be passed on, shared, talked about etc. If they aren’t doing that, it’s because they didn’t like it.

It’s strange really. If this same relative produced a meal I didn’t like, I’d be able to lie quite happily and without a trace of conscience, but when it comes to fiction, it’s something I take very seriously indeed.

What to wear in Second Life today?

Visit | Netherwood
Pose | [ evoLove ] Boho Style ([evoLove] Mainstore)
Socks | *MUKA* Garter Socks (MUKA Mainstore)
Shoes | {TSG} Grey Broken Heart Chucks (The Thrift Shop – Love or Hate Edition)
Hair | ILLMATIC Frenchie, try (Homage Mainstore)
Hat | RAW HOUSE Goon (Jack or Jill Hunt – Jack)
Sleeves | Vinyl Stirling Sleeves [Mait/2Sli/3Bell/5ss] (Vinyl Mainstore : Vinyl Marketplace)
Suit | Vinyl Stirling Jumper/Hoodie & Belts [Mait/2Sli/3Bell/5ss]  (Vinyl Mainstore : Vinyl Marketplace)

There’s something adorably practical and comfortable about the Vinyl Stirling Jumper Suit. I have no idea why, I mean, on the face of it, it’s quite sexy, but it put me in mind of what I’d like to wear if i walked through the Lake District (as Netherwood is styled upon that area, it seems appropriate to mention it). It’s new out at the Vinyl Mainstore! I’m not sure if it’s on marketplace yet but it should be soon and the link should take you to the most recent products first.

You can buy the matching knitted Vinyl Stirling Sleeves to go with the jumper too, and I’d recommend you do, they’re dead cute and you could wear them with a range of outfits.

As I mentioned the other day, both the Jack or Jill Hunt and The Thrift Shop – Love or Hate Edition are drawing to a close at the end of this month.  If you want to grab some of the fabulous freebies available in the hunt, now is the time. I loved Raw House’s Goon hat (which comes with two options – with a dark fringe and without). TSG’s Chucks are dead cute and are available in a few ‘heart-themed’ designs at The Thrift Shop.

Here, have a ‘well lit, no shit’ shot to zoom in on (click to see me huge).

    1. Aww, that’s a nice thought Francis, but not in my experience when it comes down to something you do that could be classed as art, they’re too busy being kind 🙂

      1. Aww, that’s why the internet is so great – we can support each other and give feedback without any hurt (well, I know some don’t, but we can eh?) Thanks Francis :))

What do you think?
