“War – What is it good for?”
It’s simply pouring down with rain here today. It feels like the tears of a thousand angels washing everything clean though, as it’s been so horribly humid and muggy this week. I got up today and did one of my happy morning things – had a shower while it was raining outside the window (that makes me feel at one with nature, haha, and is about the closest I like to get to the wilds).
My naughty cat has done a poop and some sick on the (thankfully washable) flooring of the conservatory overnight. That’s far too close to nature for me yet. I’m going to have to wait a good while before I can approach that to clean it up so for now she’s on ‘no sofa’ punishment detail and I’ve simply closed the door so I can’t see it.
I’m sure you’re getting the idea I’m in for an exciting and fun Friday… and you’re probably right.
Oh I also meant to tell you a little story about this picture (above). I searched for somewhere to take a ‘war’ picture in Second Life and tried a few, found one and an appropriate place in which to take the pic. I got myself set up and messed with lighting til it was just about right and took a few snapshots. As many bloggers will know, this is just an opener, it can go on for quite some time from that point, messing with colour, depth of field, position, moving the sun around etc. However, I was interrupted by a cartoon character avatar who came and stood in my shot. I derendered them temporarily (until relog) and continued with my ‘work’. Then she asked what I was doing so I told her ‘taking a picture’ and she asked why. I told her that I blogged and also hopefully encouraged other people to come along to different sims by crediting them in the blog. She pointed out – very nicely – that this was not a sim for human avatars at all. Whoops!
She then offered for me to take a pic of her instead and I said I would and did so, even though I had derendered her because I was too embarrassed to admit that detail, after gatecrashing an RP sim not for humans.
So… if you’re reading this, kindly cartoon RP lady, I do apologise and I won’t mention the sim in case any of my human friends are tempted to come and do their shots there too 😀
So, I used one of the early shots and I really like it – I’m thinking the half hour I spend farting around might be time wasted 😀
What to wear in Second Life today?
Pose | Stif Pose Croft 03 (Stif Pose Marketplace)
Necklace | Baker’s Dogtag Pendant – no longer available
Gun | Bueno Silent Gun Pink, from prev gacha, try (Bueno Mainstore)
Boots | Flite. First Winter Boots Snow (FLite Mainstore)
Hair | [RunAway] Fjara Hair (Hairology, from Sept 10 – 30)
Outfit | Addams Stefani Military Suit [Mait/2Sli/3Bell/TMP] (Collabor88) or (Collabor88 Camshop Sim)
Love, love, love the Stefani Military Suit by Addams and available now at Collabor88. It comes in a wide range of colours (accessible via HUD in the fatpack) and not all of them are camo. You can have the shirt and pants different colours, the belt is recolourable – it’s a work of pure SL genius.
[RunAway]’s Fjara Hair with it’s big soft plaits seemed the perfect foil for my ‘Army Barbie’ look, the colours in each HUD are lovely, subtle and have depth and you can get it now at Hairology. You know how I threatened to go to Hairology the other day and spend all my lindens, well I did and aside from the ones I had already received to blog, I didn’t like any of them enough to buy anything! T’was a miracle.
Here’s some more pictures including a ‘well lit, no shit’ shot. Click to see them larger.
Finally, I present my ‘jigging for the rigging’ video. I noticed a tiny bit of show through on the front/side ribcage but this is because of the low front of the blouse and how you can’t alpha out the sides on the Maitreya Lara without removing the middle also.
