Second Life Fashion from ReadMeri | Dia de Muertos

When I was struggling to find anything to love about Halloween some years back, I was fortunate enough to be in Second Life and seeing some amazing Dia de Muertos themed fashions and objects. The holiday originated with the people of Mexico and has gradually begun to be celebrated across the globe with people of Mexican descent introducing others when they settle abroad. It’s a holiday in Mexico, but the celebration and meaning remains the same, whether you get a day off work or not – it’s to celebrate those who have gone before us, our ancestors and lost loved ones and to pray for them.

Seems more beautiful to me than trick or treating (although I will get lots of sweets in for the neighbourhood kids who come knocking – ‘cus they are pretty cute).

If you’d like to learn more about the ‘Day of the Dead’ you can simply google it or visit this website which I found both interesting and well-illustrated.

What to wear in Second Life today?

Ok! RunAway and Astralia have collaborated on a really lovely piece each for the Candy Fair. The Viola hair by RunAway and the Catrina Headpiece and Veil by Astralia are made to work flawlessly together. Both come with a wide range of colours available. Go – go! Grab them while they’re hot.

Bueno’s Strapless Dress comes in a choice of textures and colours and is available now at Kustom9. I liked the simplicity of this one colour because you could see the texturing of the knit so well. It comes in two Slink sizes and one Fitmesh, which I’m wearing with my Maitreya Lara. I did have to use alphas to accommodate it, but if anybody is looking at my that closely, they are not only under my dress but under arrest (I made that joke already once this month!)

Severed Garden’s Weky Boots are ooooold now. I have had them several years at least. They’re still one of the quirkiest and most adaptable pieces of footwear I’ve ever seen in SL and I love them.

Here’s some more pics including a well lit no shit shot. Click to see them larger.

Finally, here’s my jigging for the rigging video…
